In the lead-up to the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final at Twickenham, title sponsor Aviva has released Rugby Matters, a new documentary that weaves together a number of different stories exploring the power of rugby and community spirit.
The Flair Bears story is of one man’s fight against a brain tumour which led to the formation of a sevens team, famed for playing with flair to raise money for the charity Brainstrust. The Flair Bear’s story is part of Aviva’s new documentary Rugby Matters, which has been released to celebrate the climax of the Aviva Premiership Rugby season!
The Bears produced some fine flair going all the way to the trophy this year. We were ecstatic finally picking up some silverware and playing some lovely rugby along the way. After five previous attempts at this Cup, the Bears' perseverance meant the glory and beers tasted that much sweeter. Now, the Bears just have to defend it!
There's not much to say about Barcelona really...other than it was the BEST tour we've ever been on and very hard to put into words. New Bear Cubs that joined the pack really embraced the spirit and flair, which led to fine performances on and off the pitch. Looking forward to heading there next year with the same flair!
It was an absolute pleasure returning to the Bears' spirtual beach rugby home in Lignano Sabbiadoro. With a number of new Bear cubs and multi-national bears it was a great experience for all. However, although cultures were being shared off the sand, we were just a little underprepared for the arena. This did not affect the dancing, and a tour highlight was getting the whole street to join in the dancing in front of an outdoor band. We have learnt our lesson and are determined to train on the cold, pebbled beaches of England in order to #ShowTheFlair when we return next year.
Bears love playing on home sand! This was the most enjoyable London Beach Rugby tournament the Bear pack have been a part of, and since we have been to every one since it started in 2013, it goes to show this is another tournament going from strength to strength. The flair in the matches picked up throughout the day, putting the Bears in fine form to beat the cheerleaders in a tightly fought aggressive fixture.
All donations will help Brainstrust directly as they offer great support to brain tumour sufferrers. They are able to provide expert advice to help guide all sufferers through their difficult journey of living with a brain tumour. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of UK children, and brain tumour charities are majorly underfunded. Therefore donations would be greatly appreciated and go a long way to help this worthy cause.
